Poured from 500mL bottle into a dimpled mug. Bottled 9/27/21.
Appearance: light golden hue with a clear body and a finger of frothy white foam. It looks great!
Smell: light malt; good smoke; dash of sweetness. This is a well-balanced rauchbier, and I'm impressed.
Taste: the flavor isn't quite as balanced as the aroma; the smokiness comes of as astringent amid the light malt and lager-yeast character. Not bad necessarily, but maybe a little sweetness or something could round this out better.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this beer isn't perfect, but I love that a local establishment is doing a rauchbier. This is quite well-executed for the style.
