Poured from 500mL bottle into a dimpled mug. This is billed as a "dark Mexican lager", but had a lot of Vienna lager character to me, so that's how I added it.
Appearance: rich dark amber hue with a totally clear body and a finger of frothy tan foam atop. Dark and lovely!
Smell: bready, toasty, a little bit nutty, and a little bit biscuity. It's a little bit on the thick & sweet side for me, but does have a lot of character.
Taste: quite toasty with a fair bit of sweetness and a rich, tasty breadiness. The overall flavor reads as a bit drier than the aroma, which I like, and there's a moderate but pronounced bitterness at the end. Good!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a pretty good carbonation and a decent creaminess.
Overall: as I said, I only added this as a "Vienna" because it seemed to match the closest to what I experienced. The brewer does not bill it as such. I think this is an interesting beer and while it's not necessarily tailored to my palate, I think it's very well-made.
