Rich coffee and spice aromatics lead into a smooth, creamy body and soft finish.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from the Sandwich St. South LCBO in nearby Amherstburg. My first beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated LOT23248 and served barely chilled.
Pours a foggy, burnished orange-amber hue, stirring up at least an inch of foamy, buff-coloured head that dissipates within two or three minutes. A frothy collar is left surrounding an otherwise barren surface; lace deposition is scant at best. The aroma is blunt and vegetal - cinnamon and nutmeg are impossible to miss, with caramelized sugars and pumpkin pie filling also coming through. Hints of allspice, with the coffee/espresso being barely discernible. Bummer - the coffee was the main attraction for me!
Tastes a lot like a coffee cake: brown sugar, honey, toasted nuts and roasted pumpkin, with underlying notes of vanilla and creamy espresso sweetness developing later on. Nutmeg and cinnamon are prominent throughout, lending a spicy, vaguely root beer-like note to the profile; finishes with brown sugar, nutmeg and pumpkin pie filling. Gives you the sticky lips. Light in body, with low-ish carbonation that adds a gentle spritz to this brew's smooth, watery mouthfeel - a little on the thin side, with limited drinkability. More coffee, plz.
Final Grade: 3.56, a B grade. High Park's Pumpkin Spice Latteale is a mixed bag - it actually does a couple of things really well, but the lack of coffee flavour, together with the overused spices, jointly bring down what would otherwise be a solid pumpkin beer. Coffee cake crossed with pumpkin bread, distilled into the form of beer: it's on the verge of being really good, but some tweaks are needed to push it over the finish line. Worth a look; I'd be willing to give it another go next autumn.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for around $3.95 CDN.
Appearance - Cloudy brown brew with honey highlights. Two fingers of loose foamy tan head. Pretty fair staying power power.
Smell - Pumpkin and cinnamon with plenty of sweetness from brown sugar. A touch of nutmeg. Not picking up much in the way of coffee notes.
Taste - Watery pumpkin flavor with a nice bounce back of cinnamon and nutmeg afterwards. Quite sweet but not on the saccharine side.
Mouthfeel - Light carbonation and fairly light body initially, the feel thickens up as the flavors develop.
Overall - Decent enough pumpkin beer, that could use a little more pumpkin or a little more coffee as the bitterness is very low here. Flavoring otherwise put together pretty well and doesn't pull too much in one direction or another.
