This was built up quite a bit by folks I talked to and, while a nice sour, failed to be superlative in any area. Appearance was surprisingly dark, orange toned brown, with a pretty nice head considering 5+ years in a barrel. Aroma was initially odd - a bit of ethyl acetate (or is it acetone? finger nail polish remover-ish) that burned off as it breathed a bit. Afterwards, aroma was mild ... oak, buttery wine (in a good way), a mixed / stewed fruit compote, slight breadiness.. A bit of sharp lacto making me think it's going to be much more sour than it turned out to be. Flavor delivers more of that stewed fruit - I could see something like pears roasted in honey and a sweeter wine, like marsala - and lots of oak. Lacto sourness but not much in the way of funk. Good flavor but lacking in depth and didn't really develop much over the course of 45 minutes. Body was very good - creamy and substantial but not heavy.
