Poured into a Stone Brewery flute. Unknown vintage. Pours a very dark walnut brown with little light transmission in the glass and a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates, but leaves persistent small patches with light lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt, figs, oaky vanilla, molasses and honey; nice. Flavor follows, with dry caramel malt, dark molasses, woody oak and oaky vanilla, raisins and honey. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I think this has been on the shelf at the store for a while, but it has held up beautifully. The malt base has some of an English barleywine profile, but also distinct wheat wine character as well, it's a somewhat unique tasting wheatwine. The oak barrel treatment is excellent, really nice oakiness. Sweet, but not cloying. I enjoyed this a lot. Fine, unusual wheatwine.
I retrieved my Stone flute from my sister's house so I could drink this properly, but tomorrow night it's back to hotel plastic cups. Everything I've had down here is worthy of this glass, but with travel comes some sacrifices.

Pours an effervescent & somewhat ruddy Chestnut color with a thumb of fast fading tan /mocha head. Some head retention & lacing
S: Bourbon barrel, dark fruit, a little leather once warmed up, & sweet boozy notes
T: Follows the nose, plenty of barrel, also dryness from the honey, plenty of figs & jammyness, plus woody hops up front. More figs, some dark cherry, & leafy hops mix in with barrel as this beer warms up. Finishes dry (honey ) with figs, dark cherry, some barrel rawness & leafy hops
MF: Medium body, some carbonation, not a lot, warming notes. Carbonation is a little still, brings some warmth, more malt depth please!
Delivers the flavor & nose, but lack of carbonation brings this down, doesn't push the flavor along

2021 vintage. Bottle purchased at Vintage Estate Wine and Beer Store.
First initial aroma.... Rum soaked dried fruits.... Like English rum cake. Honey. Ciderlike.
Sweet, but has a slight bitter finish (maybe from a burnt toffee flavor) with definite alcohol warmth linger. Raisin, date, all the dark fruits. Sweetness from the bourbon barrel.
Ring of bubbles never disapates. Very low carbonation overall. Thick, but not syrupy.

Picked up a 2022 bottle from the brewery 5-24-23 for $11.99. Consumed 5-23-24.
Beer poured dark brown with a nice off-white head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is very nice, getting notes of toffee and caramel with a touch of vanilla.
Taste is well done! Large malt base is giving tons of toffee and caramel. Getting some figs midstream with a barrel finish that lends a touch of vanilla and honey booze. Finishes a tad sweet as designed and definitely warming with each sip.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall this is a nice sipper, glad i picked it up!

375ml bottle served in a slightly tulip-shaped wine glass. 2020 vintage. Found it at a liquor shop in Anaheim.
Pours burnt caramel / dark toffee, reasonably large head on a pretty vigorous pour that collapses down to a fairly compact ring and a very light, thin dusting across the surface. Smell is lots of booze, some dates, strong oak, more booze (maybe a little more clearly in the form of bourbon).
Taste is sweet and boozy, a horehound / rootbeer barrel flavor, strong vanilla. I think honey contributes to the sweetness. Oak is noticeable, too.
Mouthfeel is thick and chewy, not quite syrupy. Overall, pretty good.

Very good, strong brew. I love Barleywines and Wheatwines and rarely see ones I haven't tried before. This one was the 2022 vintage, poured from a 375 ml bottle into a pint glass. This beer featured a covering of dark tan bubbles (not quite a "head") that faded fast with no lacing. The color started out a dense dark brown but later, when held to a light, the color appeared a more milk chocolate brown. Aroma and taste were great. Strong caramel malt and honey, balanced by the bourbon barrel flavoring and a little vanilla. The taste overall was a bit sweet but not overdone or cloying because of the bourbon barrel flavoring. This beer was not all that bitter, just a bit of wheat bitterness. Mouthfeel was rich with just a bit of alcohol warming...not quite harshness. In all, an excellent slow sipper.

Poppin' my wheatwine cherry tonight!
Crack the top and it's readily apparent that it smells rather like a barleywine. At least this one does. Looks like one too. It's got a good pinky+ of toasted marshmallow head, which surprised me. As did it's retention. Label says it was aged 14 months in bourbon barrels, which I suppose is on the lower end of the aging scale. That may explain things. Either way, it's a pretty beer. Bourbon is the dominating note on the nose, though it plays remarkably well with the honey. Lots of sticky sweet malt as well. Smells warm and inviting. Tastes great. Follows the nose, but with more of a mellow bourbon presence. Caramel on a stick notes. Sugar Daddy? Bit o' honey too. Drinks a little thin, which I suspect is the honey's doing. It doesn't really bother me, though. I suspect this very easily could have been a sickly sweet syrup bomb. I like how it drinks. Of course, now I may be compelled to drink it too fast. Fuck it; I don't have to work tomorrow. Bottoms up!

It’s good. It’s pretty good. I’m thinking like sometime during the 19th century when people stopped using corncobs to wipe their bums, and graduated to a new thing called toilet paper. Like, you know the first edition wasn’t Charmin soft, but it still did the trick. And right here, in Wood Ya Honey, it doesn’t hit Raul like a bidet, but he’s still content.

Pours a dark burgundy-brown color with a half finger of dark khaki head that quickly fades into a messy crown. Whatever lacing slides right back down into the glass.
Leather, fig, plum, earthy hops, honey, toast and vanilla in the nose.
The taste is a delicious mix of vanilla, caramel, plum, honey and red wine balanced by lighter earthiness and leather than showed in the aroma, plus a good kiss of alcohol.
Sticky, full feel with light, tight carbonation.
Better grounded than the few other wheatwine I’ve tried. Plenty of sweet flavors, but with a much drier finish than some other examples. An absolute pleasure. 2021 bottling.

2021 version. This is just perfect for warming up on a cold day, plenty boozy and all that honey reminds me of spring!
Unabashedly sweet overall, the caramel-y base beer, the sticky honey, faint fruit, and the assertive bourbon barrel. I keep smacking my lips and licking my gums, the body is so thick and sticky. The carbonation is light, which works fine for this one. So damn good. Only bought one dammit.
