Brasserie De L'Être "Sphinx"
33 cl brown glass bottle, "À consommer de préférence avant fin: 20/03/20"
3.50€ @ La Recolte Beaubourg, Paris, FR
Notes via stream of consciousness: Fairly strong aroma just upon opening the bottle! It's poured a finger thick plus head of bright white over a very hazy, light gold body. It looks a little like a witbier. The head is holding well but dropping some, and there are solid walls of lace left behind. The aroma is indeed strong. It's hoppy with an herbal and earthy character. I'm not familiar with these hops which makes it interesting, at least for me. The flavor takes a different twist with more grassy hop notes, a hint of lemon, some apple and pear, and some black pepper and clove. The malt that supports it is fairly light but wheaty. It's firm bitterness balances it, along with a touch of acidity, and it finishes dry with notes of black pepper, grass, wheat, and a hint of clove. It cleans right up, not lingering for too long. Looking back the head has dropped leaving a patchwork surface covering but with plenty of thick lacing surrounding it. In the mouth it's medium-light in body and effervescent with tiny bubbles that bristle on the tongue. Very nicely done. It's interesting, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Worth trying.

Had this one at a tasting a ways back
Spicy yeast, bubble-gum, some hard to place fruit and some sweet grains, super light for the style
Last beer in a tasting, should've started with this lightweight but what can you do?
