* First Oozlefinch Barrel Project release *
It's finally here -- the first Oozlefinch barrel-aged sour! Dr. Rendezvous is a Brewmaster's blend of imperial saison aged in local select Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc barrels. Lemony esters from a warm fermentation are complemented by white wine aromatics and oaky tannins. Strong acidity from our aggressive house culture subs in for bitterness to balance the sweet malt and accentuates the grassy and citrusy notes. A sneaky 8.2% alcohol, this 100 day old sour ale is refreshing enough to quaff but complex enough to sip and savor. Welcome to the new side of Oozlefinch!

L: Had this beer on-tap at Jack Brown's - Richmond, poured into a pint glass. Had a bright orange color and a cloudy texture. There was a half inch of foamy / fizzy head that quickly dissipated. Not a whole lot of lacing,
S: A nice and sweet aroma of citrus fruit, yeast, a vinous quality, tropical fruit, malt, and spices.
T: Tasted of a moderate amount of Belgian-style spicy yeast, the aforementioned vinous quality (white wine, mainly), light malt notes, spices (pepper), citrus (orange, lemon), and a very pronounced sourness. The flavor here is more akin to a wild ale than a saison. Still, it's fruity and lively.
F: A highly carbonated beer with a vibrant, prickly finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An interesting beer all around. Well made and slightly offbeat.
