Brewed with Munich and chocolate malts bandaged on toasted oak logs harvested from our woods, this brown ale has balanced bitterness and fantastic notes of fresh wood. Log-aged and bottle-conditioned in our earth-beamed cellar for enjoyment now or later.

A delicate brew thoughtfully created.
Like most brown ales, this does not Look like much... average among its peers. Aromas are mostly malt with the woodiness subtle. Tastes run the same, genuine and balanced. (Its 30 IBU is subtle, too.) Sits comfortably in my mouth.
My first from Big Thorn, so I went on their website. A Mom & Pop shop doing what they love, bringing their beer and its raw ingredients to fruition. A nice story. I almost want to visit. But, it is best use of time to get their other beers at Binny's who has several on the shelves.

Pours a light clear ruddy color. Tight velvety head with excellent retention. Some velvety lacing is left as the beer is consumed. Aroma has notes of earthy hops, roared malts, oak, and some hints of citrus. Taste has notes of oak, tobacco, toasted malts, ash, earthy hops and a hint of citrus from the hops. Dry finish with some moderate carbonation. A bit rough around the edges. Overall good brown ale that I'd happily drink again.
