Double dark beer with additional lambic which was riped in oak barrels. Uses spelt malt. Alvoholic sweetness. Boon made this traditional Maasland beer especially for the open air museum of Bokrijk.

Bought at Boon's bottle shop.
A most interesting dubbel! Often the style relies too much on brewers sugar and, hence, are sweet. But Wildeman has some lambic blended in; faint compared to what Boon does in its most famous ales. But that's what makes it interesting.
Compared to other dubbels, Wildeman's foam is average and goes away too fast. And with a less prominent and probably quite different yeast, the Smells also lack the pungent dark fruit common to the dubbel. But is the Taste interesting ? Yes and I'd very much like this lambic blending again. Slightly less than medium mouthed. Almost a semi-dry finish, again the lambic at work.
I give very good Overall Hugs to Boon for its leadership in saving the style and, in Wildeman, for continuing to innovate the style so artfully.
