Appearance - The beer pours an almost pitch black color with a one finger head of dark brown foam. The head has moderate retention, slowly fading over time to leave nice streaks of spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell - The aroma of the brew is massive of dark chocolate and roasted malt as well as being quite bit in molasas and brown sugar. Along with these aromas comes notes of a coconut as well as some light dark fruits. Overall the smell is big and inviting.
Taste - Teh taste begins as the nose would suggest with tons of chocolate and roasted malts. Right from the start a light coconut cream taste is present with the taste becoming more and more pronounced as the taste advances. Along with the increase in the coconut creme comes some flavors of vanilla as well as some faint dark fruit tastes of raisin. Some very light hop tastes of an earthy and herbal nature come to the tongue at the end, but pale in intensity to the other rich chocolate and sweeter tastes. In the end a tiny bit of booziness also works its way to the tongue, and with the increase in all the sweet leaves one with a coconut cream brownie like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel - The body of the brew is quite thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is moderately low. For the rich chocolate, roasty, and coconut flavors the thick and chewy feel is fantastic, creating a drinking medium that mimics eating a coconut cream chocolate brownie.
Overall - A nice rich and sweet brew with tons of chocolate and coconut flavors. A slow sipper for sure with its combination of thick sweetness and slight booziness. Quite nice.
