Served on tap in a snifter
Appearance – The beer is served a hazed yellow-orange color with a big head of very fizzy foam. The head fades very slowly over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is strongest of a tropical fruit and banana smell along with some other aromas of grapefruit and pine hop. Along with these smells comes some notes of notes of herb and a bit of yeast, banana, and spice.
Taste – The taste begins with a slightly grainy taste that has a bit of banana, light fruits, bread, and grapefruit hop upfront. As the taste advances, some other hop flavors of herb and grass come to the tongue giving a bit more “bite” to the brew. There is a bit of yeastiness and some almost subdued candied sugar, and slightly herbal tastes that come to the tongue toward the end, leaving one with a rather thick (for a brut) but very enjoyable taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thicker side for a brut IPA with a carbonation level that is average to a bit on the higher side. For the style a little thinner body would have been slightly better, but overall it is OK.
Overall – A rather decent more “malty” Brut IPA. It has a good easy drinking feel and a nice flavor profile overall. It is one to try if you get the chance.
