Served on tap
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazy yellow-orange color with a thick two finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is rather strong of a citrus smell of grapefruit and tangerine mixed with some aromas of tropical fruits of mango and pineapple. Along with these smells comes some light notes of melon and a little bit of a pine hop and caramel malt.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice tropical fruit and malt taste with the tropical fruit being a mix of pineapple and papaya while the malt is of a more bready and cracker nature. Along with these tastes come a little bit of pine and grapefruit hop with the former hop taste growing stronger as the taste advances. Some herbal and floral hop flavors join the taste more toward the end, all while the malt diminishes just a tad, leaving one with a nice fruity and slightly sweet, but dank taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is slightly lower. A little higher carbonation level may have been slightly better for the flavors, but overall the feel was pretty decent.
Overall – A rather nice IPA overall. Not sure if was as crisp and light as most Brut IPA’s, but it was big in flavor (both hop and malt) all while still being super easy drinking. While a little out of the category standard, another great brew by Bunkhouse and one I hope they continue with in the future or at least always have a Brut on tap, as both I have had have been fantastic!!!!
