Pours hazy yellow with nearly no head. Aroma is wheat and banana. Taste follows aroma with some added clove and light vanilla. Feel is good, nice and silky. Overall a decent Hef.

I was informed by the bar server upon ordering that the beer had finally been named - Monkey & The Engineer (menu said so too). Poured in a tulip glass which, considering the price, seemed a bit of a ripoff - needs to be in a proper size weizen glass, or at least a shaker pint (larger serving is what I'm getting at kids)
Anyway - it's a light amber liquid, moderate haze, with a persistent thick collar of foam. The nose is a little flowery and grassy, with not much bready malt or yeast poking through. The malt flavor is a little more on the firm/bold side, compared to some of the lighter German imports, but it's relatively dry; mild phenolic background note. Should have asked about the origins of the malts (and maybe yeast strain) used, because it has a familiar 'American' interpretation. All told, it's not bad, and I'd get it again, but it leaves enough to be desired that it's easy to just move on and try another one of their many offerings.

I normally sample a 'Rail' every time I am there, but this is always the first pint I get. A soothing choice that I imagine is the secret recipe the Broken Lizard guys drink in Beerfest. Long live the "Hef."
