Canned on 12/21/2022; consumed on 7/18/2023
Pours a deep, near-sludgy brown body capped with multiple fingers of richly sudsy, hazelnut-hued foam; good head retention yields a half-finger of cap, a modest, frothy collar, and minimal strands of lacing spread around the walls of the glass.
Aromas of soft coffee roast see rich maple interspersed, with a semi-bitter char phasing in hints of dark cocoa as the bouquet settles.
Taste offers a steady roast with accents of black bread crust and bitter coffee upfront, progressing to a nutty malt undertone over the mid-palate as a sweeter maple inflection on the back end guides a walnut fade through the finish.
Mouthfeel shows a moderate-light body and a taut fluff of moderate carbonation, easing with dry, semi-roasty textures through a silky mid-palate while a slight creaminess through the back end precedes a clean finish.
Amplified nuttiness effortlessly suits a brown ale as sweetness counters the ensuing heartier roast before wavering to a balanced take on the style, with an added adjunct intrigue.
