I simply do not get what people are reviewing here. I've had barrel aged Belgian beers that I've loved. I'm broad minded. But this is garbage. Murky, little carbonation, puddle water. Smells like cheap whiskey filtered through a leather cod piece. I drank 4 ounces out of a sense of obligation but couldn't force more down. I've blocked sense memory from recall.

I received a 12oz bottle of Choc Signature Series Whiskey Barrel Qual Belgian Style Ale from a good friend from Cookson, OK. I hadn't had a barrel aged Quad in some time and had forgotten how ugly they are, lol! It's a murky brown/bronze with no foam at all. Pretty muddy. Aroma is really over the top - booze brothers to the tits! Flavors are drenched in whiskey, but baked apples, plums, and raisins in thick-ass vanilla is the theme here. Nice. This beer is a full body chew monster to say the least. This one was about 10 months old. Might be a cellar candidate, but not sure. It was probably really booze hot after the bottling line. Oh and the biggie here - it's 14.6% abv! A sipper, no doubt. Worth a look if you're into big boozy quads. Enjoy good beer, y'all!

Did I get a bad beer? I usually love the effects of a good barrel, but this takes like cheap whiskey boozing up a mediocre base beer. Too boozy, not enough beer, and neither tastes very good.

Little head, color is murky chocolate brown.
Flavor profile is amazing! Port and whiskey galor. Plums, raisins, black cherries, brown sugar, oak, vanilla. Dang. So many amazing flavors. Toffee and coconut with some butterscotch. I am surprised this isn't port barrel aged. Wow, just incredible. Bananas and belgian yeast.
Mouthfeel is a little thin and flat. Ends with some black licorice.
Very surprised by this one. I wish I had more. Incredible.

Pours an effervescent mahogany tinged brown with near zero head & floaties, big time viscosity. Zero head retention & lacing, way too many floaties. BASED ON THIS SAMPLE, POUR THIS STUFF LIKE NITROGLYCERIENE!
S: Raisins, figs & whisky, to include peat, fades a bit as it warms
T: follows the nose, booze heat is present, nice whisky/bourbon notes, oaky dryness up front. Peatyness, vanilla, oakyness, & figs, raisins, & dark cherry. Finishes with peatyness, dark fruit & appropriate booze warmth
MF: Medium bodied, fairly lively carbonation, warming
Drinks fairly easy, but you can tell this is a sipper from the get-go. Some serious visual flaws to this beer. This is pretty good, but damn sure isn't worth what 2 BCBS cost+, get a grip Choc, I will not buy any more beer at this price from y'all period...

Drank this side by side with a port, and the flavor profiles were very similar. This is a beautiful sipping beer.

Pours a reasonably thick reddish brown with no head. Big boozy aroma that gives way to sweet, dark fruits and molasses. It's reminiscent of fruitcake. The taste is remarkably close to the aroma. Loads of bourbon on the front end, but it's nicely mellow and blends well. Prune, dates, figs and warm spices. Mouth is thick, but not chewy. At $14 for a 12 ounce bottle, this is plenty pricey, but I don't feel cheated. Hugely complex, but the flavors blend together so well.
