Don't be fooled by the high ABV's, this Maibock is sweet and smooth, with very little hint of alcohol bite. Delightful but dangerous, we recommend sharing this flavorful, rich lager with your closest friends. Cheers.

Revisited July 29th, 2025

The 2025 version with a lower ABV (it was originally over 9%) and now called a Maibock vs. eisbock, it's time to revisit this beer. Still a small bit of cracker-;like malt base to the flavor; rather sweet overall; caramel; earthy herbs like thyme; grassy; a bit phenolic; somewhat brash bitterness. Medium-heavy feel; sticky; some alcohol sharpness.

Compared to two years ago, this beer is a bit of a let down. I would have hoped a slightly less ABV would really round things out, but if anything, the beer seems hotter and brasher than it was two years ago. Perhaps if I poured it at a cooler temperature, things may have come across better. As it is, this one is pretty rough.

It pours and sits in the glass a dark amber, very clear; good carbonation; fairly loose and thin head that quickly fades to a partial patch atop the beer. Nice fruity smell; apples and pear; sweet malt backdrop.

ABV: 8%; pouring temperature: 58.0 ℉; crowler info: canned 07/28/25

Pale yellow body; thin, white head. splotchy blobs and patches of foam inside the glass. Cracker aroma. Cracker flavor; bread crust; mineral-like; herbal hop note, grassy. Medium-light mouthfeel; crisp; taut.

For a supposedly high ABV beer, this is so easy drinking. The alcohol strength is very well-hidden. The beer is light, refreshing, and very clean overall.
