a wheat based ipa with passion fruit, a neat idea for an ipa in a place where it always feels like summer. the passion fruit is just a little overdone to me though, not quite fakey, but lacking the tartness of the real fruit for sure, which i miss throughout this, but with a great freshness, a nice mild and fruity hop profile, and a light and easy body and low abv that make it a good session pint. orangey and hazy in color with a better and longer lasting head than a lot of their other beers seemed to carry. sweet almost candy-like aroma from the passion fruit, and some sharp citrus in here too from the hops. the flavor shows some orange and melon, pineapple and the passion fruit, a bit more residual sugar than i need, but the hops selected and the passion fruit do work together well. i like the wheaty base too, it gives a needed earthy element to balance the fruitiness, and it smoothes the whole thing out. decent carbonation and a refreshing flavor overall, even if it is a little sweet. worth a try if you make it in here, it definitely feels like vacation!
