a solid coffee stout here served on nitro, a relatively simple beer as this style goes, some nice bitter and strong cold brew coffee blended right in post fermentation i would think, and just a basic stout underneath, not a whole lot going on here, but i like a highly drinkable dark beer, and this is certainly that, especially with the creaminess from the nitro tap. it has quite a lot of bitterness in it both from the roast of the coffee and the roast of the dark barley, and not just in the end but all the way through. i like the intensity of the coffee, its huge in here, and i like coffee this forward in beer. it doesnt strike me as the most compelling java in the world, but i like the robust usage. dark chocolate and burnt overtones, but its so smooth and dense feeling, dry too, almost an irish dry stout character in the finish. this is a solid pint of beer, one of the better beers we had at big blue, and one i could drink several pints of. these guys have some hits and some misses, but this is quite good.
