Picked up a e0,5l bottle dated 15.09.23 from the REWE down the street from Mahrs in Bamberg. My expectations for this beer were low once I saw the score here but it is much better than the score. A rich, full body with a solid grain bill picked up in the nose and flavor. Easy drinking, smooth, and certainly better than indicated. Would happily drink this again, unlike many other Pilsners rated higher.

Brauerei Fässla "Gold-Pils"
2,80€ / ,5L at the brewery on 16 September 2017
Notes: Clear golden body beneath a full head of white that slowly settles into a creamy finger-thick head, and then down into just a surface covering - but nice lacing is left behind. The aroma is of grainy malt with just a touch of herbal hoppiness. Thought it would be happier, but OK, and the flavor follows. This is von fass auf Bayerischer antisch so it's got a moderate, smooth carbonation. It's got some sweetish malt to it but there's also some stiff bitterness to balance it, and it finishes dry once the dollop of residual golden malt has passed. Some light herbal notes remain. Overall it's really well balanced and remarkably drinkable. It's also quite clean, and it has a great malt component to it. It's a perfect example of the southern German Pilsner style.

After the lager I tried this lovely pils at Fässla.
It is a clear golden color with a pillowy white head. Laces wonderfully.
Super light and clean. There isn't too much going on, but everything there just kills about any other pils I have had. There are light grains and hops running around yet not as hoppy as say a fresh Urquell. This is where fresh drinking and great brewing collide. Gotta try this while in the 'Berg!
