Barrel-Aged Gammelhjärtad is a beautiful blend of maple and port barrel-aged barleywine and rum barrel-aged Krampus imperial milk stout. The results of this marriage are delicious notes and aromas of maple, port wine and rum with a touch of Nordic smoke. One not to miss and best enjoyed by a campfire while staring deeply into the void.

16 ounce can into a snifter. A 2022 release, had 7/30/22.
Pours a dark brown, opaque, with a half inch foamy head and slick foamy lacing. Aromas of malt, rum, oak, char, port, some vanilla, a hint of maple. The flavors are mostly similar- rum, malt, caramel, oak, char, chocolate, port, light vanilla. Smooth, a very good fuller body, appropriately carbonated.
An excellent blend of styles. The rum and port barrels show well and compliment each other. Lots of great aromas and flavors. Really enjoyable.

Black body, brown head. Super boozy nose, really getting that bourbon with the mushroom and maple, rum with molasses, oak and toasty chocolate. Regular gammelhjartad was so much better, here the booze amplified the wrong things in the taste like smoked meat and booze with bitter chocolate and maple barley in an overpowering bitter and savory way. No, just no, it isn't cleaver or nuanced at all. Feel is smoky and boozy, no character otherwise besides some malt.

Released 7/27/22; drank 8/10/22 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A violent pour yielded a big, noisy tan head; almost no lace.
Smoke, booze heat, cream & leather notes in the nose.
Creamy medium thick mouthfeel.
Smoke, cream, oak & mild leather flavors.
This was actually pretty balanced and surprisingly mellow; while I'm glad it wasn't a bull in a china shop, I wish it had a little more attitude. Good, not great.
