Phase Three + Old Irving? I used to be pretty good at math in my youth, & that’s an easy equation. 16 oz. can.

Black. How long until we see a purple stout? I’ll wager it’s already been done. This baby breathes chocolate bourbon fire into the nose. Yeehaze.

Migration 2023 is not a shy beer. The first sip fairly explodes with flavors. Chocolate guns for palate assassination & narrowly misses. Bourbon plays second trumpet, followed in no particular order by vanilla, more chocolate, creeping booziness, with an overarching flying buttress of sweetness. A little coffee or something might have gone a long way to making this more palatable over the long haul. Big, brutal, thick.

So close to being an All-Star bat; it just needs/needed something to keep the sweetness slightly in check. Still a very good, borderline excellent barrel aged stout.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 3/28/23, had 8/25/23.

Pours near black and opaque, thick and oily looking, with a quarter inch head of darker foam and some oily film on the glass. Aromas of coconut, roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, cocoa, some vanilla, light oak and char. Flavors of coconut, bourbon, malt, chocolate, vanilla, cocoa, some oak. Smooth, creamy, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.

So creamy and silky. Lots of coconut, almost as much chocolate and the barrels have a good presence. Thought this was a really solid effort from OI.

Had on tap. Pitch black oily body with a brown cap. Huge coconut, bourbon and chocolate running the nose with vanilla supporting. Taste has the chocolate take a bit of a back seat and take on more of the chocolate sauce flavoring, bourbon and coconut run this, sweet vanilla and malts round out, overall pretty sweet. Feel is smooth and warm but the coconut is the most prominent texture, large heavy body. Good but not great

Canned 4/20/23; drank 5/1/23 @ the Yarchives.

Midnight black appearance.

An easy pour yielded a small, noisy dark tan head; nice lacing remained.

Big coconut, chocolate syrup & rich vanilla notes in the nose.

Thick, sticky mouthfeel.

Chocolate syrup, coconut, vanilla syrup, booze heat & faint oak flavors.

A boozy, syrup-y mess. Not one I'd recommend.
