I am trying this at the brewery. It poured a clear dark amber with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of nut and malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. Good sweet malt presence with pecan. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid brown and definitely sessionable.

Straddling the fence of what's London brown ale and what's American brown ale, the talents at Mirror Twin borrow the sweet, deep and malty demeanor of those dark ales from across the pond and link them with drying domestic yeast strains and a hop forward attitude for crispness and charm.

Medium brown and casting a gently swirling mocha froth, the beer's light carbonaiton casts those cask-like aspirations upon the eye. Breaming with toffee, chocolate, coffee, caramel and toast, the nose is biscuity sweet while linking up with the mild citrus and pine notes of the quintessential pacific northwest.

Its taste is malty sweet with those caramels and toffees initially on the tongue but its flavor develops into a toasty, peppery, and bitter taste as the finish looms. Meanwhile a kiss of butterscotch and citrus mingle on the middle palate and trail into a malty dry closure.

Semisweet and with a pleasant resionous drying texture, the beer's savory grain upstart achieves a crisp and refreshing finish at the same time. A bolder hop balance and a drier, less sweet taste would align the beer more with new American brown ale.
