It's just like regular brown ale except it's stronger, bolder and slightly more controversial. As hemp as an herbal supplement comes back into our dietary portfolio, it comes as no surprise that a Kentucky brewer would be among the first to introduce smoked hemp seeds to the brewing regimen.
Mirror Twin's Wolf-Cola pours a deep and dark expected brown and with a thin swirling froth to float the ale. Its rich scent is soothing with chocolate, toast, coffee, nuttiness and a faint herbal hop note. Sweetness splashes the tongue with a host of caramel, toffee and toasted nuttiness.
As the flavors unfold, the beer's sweetness relaxes and the earthiness of malt and seed become the catalyst for taste. Heavy toast, columbian coffee, bittersweet chocolate, chicory and the bitter grit of rye offers a robust middle palate with the earthiness of toasted soil and scorched earth. A hint of husk and char decorate the finish as the ale trends slightly earthen and bitter.
Full bodied and malt-centric, Wolf-Cola is a rich and sweet beer but with an unrefined bite that's of roasted nuttiness, grass, grain and a deeply husken rye-like bite. A medium long aftertaste is chocolatey, caramelly and of fresh cracked peppercorn with a mild kaluha spice.
