With on foot in historic northern German brewing practices and the other in urban dictionary, the talented team at Mirror Twin offer a Gose-style beer with moderate tartness and a floral, briny nuanced taste and utmost refreshment heading into warmer weather.
Whoops, I Tarted arrives pale gold and nearly brilliantly clear. Its short but persistent froth carries a soft mustiness, bright citrus, cidery scent that promises sourness. Its taste is lightly sweetened with sourdough, pulled candy and musty wheat germ.
Fresh and fruity, the sweetness lifts slowly and the fruit forward tartness of the beer begins to shine. Lime, lemon, green apple, green grape and a host of tangy berry-like flavors frame a soft sourness that comes with soft woods of balsa, cork and a brisk briney salinity. Orange peel, hay and a return of doughy must chimes in at finish.
Crisp, clean and acidic, the medium light beer is true to gose style in its restrained sour palate and its rounded salty subtlety. A quick aftertaste of sourdough, taffy and burlap kisses the late palate one last time and then flutters away effortlessly. A simple yet effective sour beer that'll surly cut the thirst of Kentucky beer drinkers this summer.
