There's simply some fruits that resonate with beer more loudly than others. And when it comes to IPA, its the mango fruit that reigns supreme. The folks at mirror twin weave the fruit into a New England styled IPA for added fruit succulence, brightness and depth of refreshment.
Mango Haze pours with the same beaten egg appearance that we've come to expect from the style. And with a milky white froth, the beer soon entices the nose with an appetizing tropical and citrus medley, with a hint of herbal, botanical grasses. Sweet and pastry-like on the tongue, notions of orange sherbet and push-ups quickly come to mind.
And as the ale unfolds on the middle palate, it simply blossoms with an array of tropical fruit flavors that lead with overt mango character. Orange, peach, papaya and cantaloup soon follow, along with the tropical medley of lemon, tangerine and pink grapefruit. With the sweetness, creaminess and firm starchy body retains, a balance of light spruce, fresh grass clippings, verbena and sassafras offset the malty linger and provide a hop forward taste, but only moderately so.
Medium bodied and creamy, the beer dries slightly in finish for a cool and refreshing semblance of drinkability. Trending gelato-like, the smooth bitterness empowers the IPA to focus more of its hoppiness at the aroma and flavor additions instead of any intense bitterness in the throat. A linger of mango and lemon leaf keep the session seemingly of an herbal fruit smoothie.
