As the autumn weather cools down, the flavor spread of Mirror Twin Brewing heats up. Robust coffee, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a kiss of booze will warm both the palate and the spirits despite what the weather is doing outside.
Java-Chata infuses Nate's cold brewed coffee into an English styled porter that hosts a cinnamon and vanilla whimsy. Its dark brown austere swirls with a delicate espress creme before swooning the nose with a mix of Mexican hot chocolate and robust coffee. The palate is greeted with soft, sweet and dark malts seemingly of the caramel, cream and chocolate variety.
As the beer warms and as the palate acclimates to the taste, the abundance of coffee brings its woodsy bark, walnut, soilish and ruggged earthiness through a path of natural chocolate and coffee flavors that the porter already exhibits. Spiced with cinnamon for a bright and breaming warmth, the beer also uses vanilla for a comforting coffee and cream finish.
Medium full on the palate, the beer's body is thinned slightly by the use of coffee. A bittersweet finish is a part of the hop balance that brings a broad and woodsy taste to the after palate while coffee adds a spice that's in full agreement with the cinnamon. Perfectly suited for cold weather, Java-Chata has us wishing that scarf season might last a little longer this year.
