Steamrolling the tracks of hops, the haze train of Mirror Twin's next stop in in the galaxy, ...Galaxy hops, that is. From New England in mindset but departing from Kentucky, the beer exhibits all the glory of this sexy hop but layers it on a bed of creaminess, juiciness and smoothness.
Pale golden and cast in a foggy gaze, Mack On Your Haze carries a bright, herbal and fruity fragrance across a light and creamy froth. Hints of grass, tropical and citrus tease the senses before a taste of honey, pastry, angel food cake and light bread are realized on the early palate.
Smooth, creamy and relaxing with its malt sweetness, the beer soon lets its Galaxy shine. Bold grapefruit, clementine and a hint of lemon greet the middle palate before trending tropical with passionfruit and papaya. A soft bitterness offers to keep the finish crisp and refreshing although its lingering malt suggests something tangy and succulent in the fruity sherbet-like realm.
Medium bodied but seeming fuller early in the session, the beer's light carbonation allows the malt sweetness and starchiness to press firmly on the tastebuds, saturating with taste but limiting the beer's zeal and dryness. But its juicy melon-like consistency keeps a high degree of culinary art and balance paramount. (Rest in peace Jeremy Mack, I'll always remember you.)
