Leading the charge with Galena and Mosaic hops, a new collection of hop flavors adorn the pantry of Mirror Twin Brewing. With an endless rollout of New England styled IPA, the flavors here are decidedly citrusy.
Foggy and tarnish with sepia hues, Galena: Warrior Princess crowns with a moussy eggshell froth. A bold aromatic display of citrus is rounded with the exotic scents of the tropics, berry, herb and spice. Sweet and bready on the early palate, a pastry-like taste of citrus tarte, angelfood cake and graham cracker bring a lush creaminess to start.
Sweetness retreats rapidly and the hops take firm control of the middle palate. Bold and snappy favors of white grapefruit, tangy under ripened oranges, a hint of lemon and lime preside over secondary flavors of passionfruit, pineapple and green berries. Slightly tangy and peppery, the hops take a Mosaic taste in finish that's decorated with blackcurrant, black tea, peppercorn and lemon verbena.
Moderately bitter on the finish, the beer's drier than usual character has it tasting slightly more West Coast than is typical for the hazy styled beer, but its medium length aftertaste is decorated with the botanical herb character of geranium and hemp.
