Just in time for summer, the always sunny character of German hefeweizen finds its way into the rolling hills of Kentucky, weaving its fruity, spicy and soft complexities into the clover field of honey.
Bee Sting comes with an expected hazy gold color and crowned with a rich moussy white froth. Rich tropical aromas hinge on citrus and orchard fruit, and a light tingle of spice. Floral honey decorates the scent with its earthy sweetness and serves as a precursor to taste. Malty, creamy and vanilla-like, the early flavors are of cookie dough, fresh bread and angel food cake.
As the flavors roll along the middle palate, the fruit flavors lay tracks of strong banana followed by apple, lemon and honeydew. Sweetness holds firm and gives the fruit imrpessions a ripe, bursting and radiant taste. A balance of clove, white pepper, bubblegum and vanilla takes an edge off of the fruit and sweetness without rivaling for attention.
Persistent honey keeps the session sweet and slightly more weighted than normal. But its floral finish is highlighted by brightness of mint and grapefruit as a smooth aftertaste of wheat and honey linger briefly afterwards.
