Green tea and peaches are some of the most quentessential flavors of summer and the Mirror Twin team gets busy using exactly these ingredients in an American IPA that also informs these flavors with generous additions of Mosaic hops.
Flirting with imperial status, but also a tad stronger than the standard IPA, Peaches & Green pours a turbid gold hue with a muddy haze woven tightly within. The sone, pitted and tangy fruit plays a large role on the nose along with those herbal promises of green tea and a hint of basil with mint. Malty sweet to start, the honey and caramelized nuttiness comes together like delicate fruit cobbler.
And as the middle palate is awash with those sweet and fruity flavors, the sweetness gradually lifts and the fruitiness build upon. First, the Mosaic hops lay a trail of apricot, blackcurrant, lime and passionfruit before the peach catches up and dominates the late palate. All the while a simmering peppery bitterness brings a strong taste of black tea, sassafras, cedar and hemp to a trending hop dominance.
Medium bodied and creamy, the beer's peach succulence turns to a playful tartness that lightens the palate and ushers in a great sense of drinkability. Green, herbal and grassy, the finish comes with a trail of geranium, tea leaf and a racy spice of stone fruit skins.
