Can't stop, won't stop. ...at least that's the rebuttal that's given by the Mirror Twin team when asking them to slow down on the haze craze. The always steady Hazy But Lazy New England styled IPA reaches into the tropical goodie sack and pulls out papayas for a new taste with unique identity and added charm.
Turbid, yeasty and easily confused for vegemite, the Fruity Batooti IPA pushes a creamy and broken froth ahead of a strong tropical fruit presence over the standard citrus, herb, melon and orchard fruit with tropical nuance. Flavors of pastry-rich maltiness brings a slight doughy, bready, honey-like and cashew taste of cookie dough with a fruity overcast.
With the sweetness holding firm, its rich malt structure remains intact also. The hoppy fruit flavors of orange, pineapple, mango, grapefruit and passionfruit all bring out the base IPA flavor, but then the tropical flare of papaya brings a new taste of cantaloup, nectarine, apricot and pear flavors that take the hops to an exotic taste that they cannot go alone. Softly bittered, the finish comes with hints of matcha tea, gin and a pleasant leafy green taste of lemon verbena and sassafras.
Medium bodied from start to finish, the steady beer rewards the senses with a high culinary art of tropical fruit with other fruity nuances. Weighing on the palate, the beer foregoes crispness or dryness for utmost flavor and aroma. Trending with the taste of tropical fruit rinds and an herbal tea nature, the beer embraces the fruit seamlessly.
