Amarillo and El Dorado hops are a bitter marriage made in brewing heaven. Taken back by the haze craze, no other Kentucky brewery has embraced the hoppy momentum like the Mirror Twin Brewing team and a soft, fruity and hop fueled IPA.
Its turbid gold appearance carries a matte finish on the glass. A coat of yeast trails behind an initially frothy austere. That radiant hop perfume wafts over the nose with tropical, citrus and orchard fruit along with a mild botanical complement. The soft maltiness of angelfood cake gently rests on the tongue, making way for the lightness of toasted pastry, croissant and honey to round out the grains.
As the malt sweetness slowly releases, its hoppy perfume translates to a fruit filled flavor that starts with the tropical scope of mango, passionfruit, papaya and gooseberry. The zest of citrus goes from succulent to racy with red grapefruit, valencia orange and lime. Nuances of nectarine, currant and apricot keep the complex taste going right until a moderate bitterness introduces aspects of green tea and gin late on the palate.
Medium bodied from start to finish, the fruit dominant ale brings a creamy, tangy and bready taste to the finish that carries a smoothie consistency but with the botanical spice and easy going alcohol warmth to suggest sangria. A medium length aftertaste is pleasantly grassy, herbal and laced with macerated fruit rinds.
