Amarillo, El Dorado, Mosaic... Oh my! Twinning is winning as the Mirror Twin brewers replicate the success of their Hazing Saddles, but with the addition of Mosaic hops and we have a three headed monster of fruitiness.
Spirited and frothy, the Hazerillo Clemets pours with the same turbid matte appearance of its hoppy brethren. Similarly radiant hop perfumes wafts over the nose with a boost of orange along with tropical, orchard fruit and a botanical balance. The maltiness of angel food cake rests on the tongue awaiting a mildness of toasted pastry, croissant and honey to soften the grains.
While the malt sweetness slowly recedes, its hoppy scent develops to a citrus filled flavor that simply radiates with all-things-orange Tropical flavors of mango, passionfruit, papaya and gooseberry supports the citronella character as well do the citrusy accompaniment of red grapefruit and lime. But its the valencia, mandarin, tangerine, blood orange medley that kicks this taste into overdrive while a backdrop of nectarine, currant and apricot beckon. Softly bitter on the late palate, aspects of green tea and botanical gin play a spicy and drying role.
Medium bodied from nose to finish, the citrus dominant ale brings a creamy, tangy and pastry taste to the finish that captivates the tastebuds like orange sherbet, pushup and creamsicle. Herbal spices and a light spicy alcohol warmth is nearly winey until a medium length aftertaste of grassiness, hemp and macerated fruit rinds bring a hoppy aftertaste.
