Since the birth of the New England style of beer, the gravitation toward the same fruit forward, winey hops have led most brewers beers to largely taste the same. Reaching across the aisle to Vic Secret and Belma hops gives Mirror Twin's hazy IPA a unique twist.
Pale gold and with a pastel matte finish on the glass, the gently frothy ale hosts a mild mannered perfume of citrus, berry, wine, tropical fruit and melon for a complex but understated hop profile. Cereal sweet and laced with hints of honysuckle, pastry and cashew, the malt flavor is rounded, firm and withstanding.
Its rich cereal and bready taste and texture extends well into the taste where the boldness of citrus brings aspects of lemon, orange and red grapefruit. Tropical with passionfruit, kiwi and papaya, its tropical complement isn't far behind. Additional flavors of red berries, cantaloup and peach come to mind before an herbal, slightly winey taste accompanies a smooth and balanced bitterness into late palate.
Medium bodied and remaining firm even late, the beer's linger is of fruit cocktail and cereal with hints of gin spice, green tea and fresh sassafras looming in a medium length aftertaste.
