With the complexity of four hop varieties, a more bitter, flavorful and sharper flavor pours out of the Central Kentucky haze that is Mirror Twin Brewing. Bru-1, Azzaca, Amarillo and El Dorado hops do the heavy lifting, ensuring a fruity, floral and herbal session to take you haze and back again.
Like beaten eggs sitting in the glass, Haze and Back Again crowns with a dense and frothy meringue. The overwhelming perfume of citrus and tropical fruit suggest fruit punch before a sweetness of poundcake, honeysuckle and dough grace the early palate.
As the hops unfold on the middle palate, the taste shifts from cereal sweetness toward a taste of mango, peach and apricot. Trending classically grapefruit-like, the beer's citrus flavors sing louder late in the session. Orange and eventual pine brings a familiar taste of West Coast IPA to the New England styled ale, even with the assertive bitter spice that comes in late.
Medium bodied and creamy throughout, the beer's grainy heft adds body early but the gin-like warmth and hop resins assist with a drier tone late that has the beer trending slightly more bitter than is usual for the style. A medium long linger of verbena, sun tea and fresh spruce easily outlasts other fruit compounds and the maltiness that frames the bulk of flavors early on.
