Teaming up with the Richmond brewing contengency in Dreaming Creek, the folks of Mirror Twin spearhead the collaboration beer with an imperial New England styled IPA that celebrates Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc and Simcoe hops for a sure handed collection of hops and maximum winey and spicy flavor.
A matte finish of pasty golden hues press agains the glass while a short and tethered froth builds. Its tangy and fruity scent of green tropical and citrus fruits apply a citronella scent before a mild pastry taste of cream of wheat, cookie dough and agave begin to slide against the early palate.
But as the ale rolls across the middle palate, a slow release of sweetness and breadiness leaves a verbose hop flavor of lime, white grapefruit, under ripened orange, papaya, mango and kiwi to steer toward a tropical first and citrusy second flavor profile. A smooth bitterness begins to replace the fruit forward flavors with its rounded taste of green tea, botanical gin and lemon verbena on the late palate.
Medium bodied and riddled with grain creaminess, the malty dry beer strives for absolute dryness but is stopped shy of that mark with a dextrin rich marshmallow texture with a stronger balance than what's preferred. Juniper spice lingers onward into a medium length afterglow.
