Shaking up the sour scene, Mirror Twin gives the Germanesque sour ale style a radical update with the help of lactose, mango and vanilla for balance, complexity and down right deliciousness.
Canary yellow and with a heavy haze, Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture leads with a light froth that collapses quickly after the first sip. A complicated perfume of tropical fruit, vinegar and cereal tease and taunt the nose with a brisk and bright scent. A leading taste of cream, taffy and shortbread provide a firm and malty foundation.
But as the sweetness and creaminess lifts, its the mangos that spring to life. Its tropical, nearly orange, nearly peach character bridges over to the natural sourness of lime, crabapple, white wine vinegar, kiwi and papaya. Fruity like tropical punch, the late palate is pleasantly earthy with a sea-like brininess and damp burlap.
Light on bitterness, the medium bodied sour ale trails with a sour smoothie-like character in both taste and texture with a mild winey spice that applies a sangria-like presence on the short-lived session.
