As a twin beer to With Haze Wide Open, Mirror Twin continues to stand out by not standing out. Motueka hops shine with its limey mojito character to give this variance of a New England styled IPA a little sass and gusto.
Just A Small Town Girl Living In A Hazy World comes with the same silted turbid appearance and a creamy, fluid froth as its predecessor. A sharp citrus aroma follows as the Motueka hops have a major say in the beer's fruity and spicy scent. But the malts make a big impact with suggestions of the same honey, angel food cake and cereal that give the early palate a sweeter upstart.
The creamy sweetness of grains wrap around the hop flavor as the middle palate is nearly as juicy and radiant as the nose promised. Lime, lemon, under ripened orange, kiwi and yuzu come to mind as the fruity hops lay succulent track on the tastebuds. Trending spicy, peppery and pleasantly grassy, the hop balance does more than just balance the lingering sweetness.
Medium bodied, creamy and drying on the late palate, the beer's lasting tastes are those of muddled limes and a settling nearly complete offset to malt sweetness. Favoring a taste of fruit peels, verbena and peppery grassiness, a spicy aftertaste is exactly what this malty IPA needed.
