With a heavy reliance on Amarillo hops, the twin beer of Hazeward Bound brings the promise of classic citrus and pine with fruitier tropical nuance.
Pouring a dense haze captured by a soft golden glow, Hazebound & Down billows to the rim with a creamy froth and a spicy, fruity, floral aromatic display. The common pastry sweetness of light caramel and cashew develops into a shortcake maltiness with a soft cereal character.
Then as the hops blossom on the middle palate, the citrusy nature of orange peel and pink grapefruit rise first before a more succulent tropical taste of dried pineapple and light mango offers a more rounded taste. Herbal, spicy and softly bitter, the late palate is of lemongrass, parsley and pepper-like in a sharp resinous tone.
Medium bodied and rich upfront, the beer's malty underpinnings are persistent and nearly rivals the taste of hop derived fruitiness and any bitter balance. A spice of vodka decorates the finish along with a long bittersweet taste of honey dipped pine.
