Twinning up an already ridiculous porter, a peanut butter and chocolate one, and then adding another decadent layer of actual Hostess Snowball cakes to the flavor matrix makes this unique porter one worthy of Wilford Brimley's attention.
So, nearly this diabetic shock of a beer pours with a nonchalant brown that's cast in a fine haze and crowned with a fast dissolving cap. As a decadent scent rolls off of The Wilford Brimley Special, the nose is captivated by peanut butter, chocolate, coconut and cream immediately. Its sweet and savory taste is all about the milk chocolate, caramel malts and its generous dosing of sweet cream.
Trending from sweet cakiness toward a bitter sweet finish, the porter relaxes slightly in its sweetness, soothed remarkably by vanilla and cream before a more peanut butter and coffee character rises to prominence midway through. A slight bitterness of macchiato coffee and woodsiness decorates the finish while its chocolate and coconut simmer sweetly in the background.
Medium full on the palate, the beer isn't nearly as heavy as expected from its lush taste. A fast fleeting carbonation gives the beer a cask-like feel in the end with a long linger of toast, roast and coffee.
