Taking the tastebuds on a trip-down-under, the brewing team of Mirror Twin unveil a new twist on their New England styled IPA series with two of the more exotic and curious hops from New Zealand- Motueka and Waimea.
Hazeward Bound pours a hazy golden hue but with a visual viscosity that's just off of egg beaters. As a froth crown builds, its fruity scent brings the true essence of tropical, orchard and citrus in a perfumy culmination. Honey, light caramel and shortcake cover the malt spectrum with less cereal quality than usual.
The fruit flavors start to overtake the malts as the ale splashes the middle palate with bold overtones of mango, papaya, pineapple, orange and pink grapefruit. Bold, radiant and branch ripe in their portrayal, the beer turns softly bitter heading into late plate with the herbal spices of sun tea, cedar, fresh spruce and botanical like gin.
Medium bodied and continuing a malty dry trend, Hazeward Bound finishes gently spicy with a medium length aftertaste of spicy hops that edge out the fruit and sweetness marginally.
