Rebelling against anything dry, strictly bitter and even moderate in alcohol content, Mirror Twin's trek through Hazepalooza shows a defiant side, teaming up with Mandarin Bavarian and El Dorado hops for an imperial take on the New England styled IPA.
Pouring a foggy burnt orange appearance, Haze Against the Machine crowns with a frothy but short sheet of froth before teasing the nose with spicy hop resins, a peppery citrus and tropical bouquet and a twinge of curacao liquor before leading into a candied orange maltiness laced with light caramel, honey and shortcake.
As the hops unfold on the strong malt base, the middle palate is awakened with the boldness of tangerine, nectarine, apricot and mango; all in the juicy and slightly over ripened arrangement. As its spice builds upon the tastebuds, a twinge of wine, lime and lemon peels tease the late palate with the sharper edges of pine needle, cedar, lemongrass and the solventy nature of curaƧao liquor once more.
Full bodied, lightly creamy and slightly laborious in finish, the spicy but sweet and fruity ale extends with vodka, citrus and peppery grasses in an herbal display of fresh grass clippings, parsley and hemp.
