The fear of moms and dads everywhere was that of razor blades or drugs being in Halloween candy. Mirror Twin remembers this mid-80's fright and reminds people to celebrate the uggs of fall, and not the drugs.
Billed as a pumpkin spice latte blonde, Uggs Not Drugs pours with a golden hazy appearance before topping off with a creamy white cap. The pumpkin spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger in this warming allspice medley. A drift of coffee here and a sweet cereal scent there and the lightly characterized ale pulls the senses in several different direction.
Sweet on the tongue, the early palate celebrates honey, caramel, graham cracker and cashew before turning over the middle palate to a firm coffee flavor. Soft and nutty, the coffee's breakfast blend calmness never overpowers the malt sweetness and adds a robust balance to the billowing spiciness of pumpkin and vanilla. A light bitterness seems more of spice and coffee than anything of hops.
medium bodied and creamy, the mild mannered fall ale carries a cereal creaminess through the soothing flavors of vanilla and into a medium length bitterness of cappuccino and spiced coffee. This is fall in a glass. And don't worry parents, no one likes your kids enough to give them their drugs.
