Finding out that you have too much fruit just sitting around can be an “Oh No!” moment for most kitchens. But if your kitchen is a brewers, then it suddenly becomes an “Oh Yes!” moment. Blueberry, boysenberry and raspberries gather in copious amounts at the Mirror Twin brewery and have their embibers saying “Oh My!”.

Oh No! Deluxe comes to the bar with an opaque mauve color and floated with a loose soapy sepia foam. As it breaks apart, the nose is greeted by tart, robust berries along with a sour twinge. But to taste, a moderate sweetness of smoothie, cobbler and pastry dough lays a malt, fruity foundation for taste.

The sweetness fades swiftly and the fruit flavors take full command of the middle palate. Dark berries skirt across the tongue with hints of plum, cherry and currant while an undercurrent of sourness is sharper with gooseberry, green apple, lime and lemon. A mild pectin spice cleans up the late palate with a blend of acidity and pepper team up for balance against the fruit.

Medium bodied and with the heft of bready sweetness remaining on the palate, its “slushy” effects are in full swing. Seeming like a full recommended daily serving of fruit in a glass, the beer seems more like sangria but with a vanilla and lactose jammed creaminess to complete the intended and targeted taste.
