"Twining" out their 20,000 Leagues Under the Haze, Mirror Twin's apricot infused New England styled IPA trends citrusy from the full use of Mandarina Bavarian and Amarillo hops along with the tropical fruit additions for an imperial strength fruit bomb.
Tarnish orange with a matte goldenrod finish, a radiant and ripe scent of stone fruit and citronella wafts across the nose along with bold yet secondary scents of grapefruit, tropical fruit, candied fruit and a botanical perfume in tow. Early malt creaminess is cast in a cereal sweetened, pastry and honey taste of savory grains.
As the hops begin to build upon the middle palate, the radiance of apricot and mandarin oranges play out like branch-ripe tangerines, blood orange, kumkwat and nectarine before a racy acidity of pink grapefruit rivals the malt in a supportive role. Candied oranges, fruit roll-ups, marmalade, taffy and a hint of caramel caramel is backed up with nuances of mango, apricot and peach. Spicy and lightly bitter, the late palate is smooth with herbal tea, verbena and sassafras.
Full bodied and lightly carbonated, the ale sits weightily on the palate with a light spice of botanical gin, curacao liquor and vodka before a medium long aftertaste of hop spice, pine, grasses apricot peels.
