Leprechauns have run amuck at the Mirror Twin brewery. Twinning off of their White Girl Wasted, a taste of green seems to have turned the Blonde Ale a little sea sick.
Pale and slightly hazy, the neon green Irish I Was Wasted floats a slight greenish tinted froth as well. A grace of citrus drifts onto the nose along with light cereal, grain and grass. Light in sweetness, the early palate is wafer-like with fresh bread and a hint of honey sweetness.
As the beer washes the middle palate, its hop flavors slowly overshadow the fledgling grains, bringing a moderate lime, grapefruit and orange character to the forefront. Modestly bitter, the beer's late palate comes quickly with a subtle hop bite that trends herbal, sprucy and with a mild peppery grassiness.
Medium light in body, the beer is basically striving to be a pilsner-esque taste but made as an ale. Subtle in its complexity and prized more for its sheer thirst quenching refreshment, a finish is quick and with a brief aftertaste of lime zest and lemongrass once more.
