Just in time for the warming weather of spring, the always sunny character of German Hefeweizen finds its way into the rolling hills of Kentucky, weaving its fruity, spicy and soft complexities into a blend of clover field of honey and a strawberry patch.
Buzzinga riffs of of Bee Sting Honey Hefeweizen as it comes with an expected hazy gold color while crowned with a leathery white froth. Rich tropical aromas hinge on citrus and orchard fruit, and a light tingle of softer spices. Floral honey decorates the strawberry laced scent with its earthy sweetness and serves as a precursor to taste. Malty, creamy and vanilla-like, the early flavors are of cookie dough, fresh bread and angel food cake.
As the flavors roll along the middle palate, the fruit flavors lay tracks of strong red berry, and underlying banana followed by apple, lemon and honeydew. Sweetness holds firm and gives the fruit impressions a ripe, bursting and radiant taste. A balance of clove, white pepper, bubblegum and vanilla takes an edge off of the fruit and sweetness without rivaling for attention.
Persistent honey keeps the session sweet and slightly more weighted than normal. But its floral finish and strawberry tartness is highlighted by the brightness of mint and grapefruit as a crisp, tart aftertaste of wheat and honey linger briefly afterwards.
