Getting their experimental juices flowing, brewers at Mirror Twin imperialized a wheat beer and then allow for the character flavors of spontaneous fermentation to carry the load. Fueled with black tea and lemon and it seems that the levels of creativity are alive and well.

Pouring a rusty and somewhat dullish ruddy brown, Rickety Cricket sheds a loose and clumping froth that precedes a scent of cola, lemon, caramel, earthiness and baked bread. A firmer sweetness takes hold as those caramel, cola, bread crust and bready sweetnesses latch onto the early palate.

A brisk tartness teases the middle palate with the lemon additions playing a solid role. A milder taste of cider, rose wine, green berry, green apple and under ripened stone fruits pull from the lingering and persistent sweetness to take an edge off of the heavy malt influence. Light in bitterness, the late palate is a blend of the more obvious cola, black tea and lemon arrangement.

Full bodied and lightly cloying in the finish, the expectations of the "wild" character never materializes as the ale seems white "wort" like and still in the stages of fermenting. A medium long linger of malt sweetness leave trails of sorghum, sourdough and peppery herbs on the aftertaste.
