Bringing the worlds of old school hops and new world hops together in a hazy, creamy and gentle bodied beer, Mirror Twin goes on a hoppy quest. Citra leading, but followed by Chinook and Simcoe hops, and suddenly the American Pale Ale sees a new and hazy life.
Pale, turbid even and cast in a silted canary matte appearance, the pastel yellow Monty Python & The Quest For The Hazy Pale greets the nose with a tangy, citrusy and herbal array, seemingly of lemon-accented citronella. A light and pastry tarte sweetness shows first on the early palate with hints of sugar cookie and angel food cake.
Then as the malts are rivaled by the hops, its the taste of Citra that leads the charge with orange, mango and cantaloupe. But as the session wears on, the sharper fruit edges of Simcoe show up with white grapefruit, lemon and eventually a lemongrass peppery presence late in taste. Trending moderately bitter, its herbal edge consists of a grassy, sprucy, green tea finish.
Medium bodied but carrying a soft carbonation, the ale finishes herbal and bright with hints of gin-like botanicals, trailing into a medium length aftertaste of lemon balm, fresh spruce and a fine, fresh grassiness.
