Showcasing even more of the array of aromas, flavors and spices that give this special hop its name "Mosaic", a stronger range of flavors come through proudly upon the same malty, creamy and doughy base as their Mosaic Monster New England-styled IPA. Mirror Twin now puts both hops and strength on a pedestal with this even more monster of a beer.
So, Double! Mosaic Monster comes with a richer muddy, ruddy goldenrod haze than the original Mosaic Monster but topped with a similar trailing froth. Citrus, stone fruit, tropical fruit, botanical herbs and gin-like spice round the nose along with a density of sweet dough its scent. Poundcake flavors layer on the tongue with a notion of angel food cake, graham cracker and a honey dipped melody.
The lasting malt starchiness and supportive sweetness stews unrelenting on the middle palate and bring those hoppy aromas into tasty fruition. Passionfruit, mango and guava succulence once again come from the tropical fruit contention before its citrusy taste bring its racy, radiant blood orange, red grapefruit and a pep of zesty lime. The juiciness of cantaloup keeps the late palate rounded even while a spice of verbena, sassafras and black tea bring a moderate, spicy, bitter balance to the finish.
Just as full in body as it is in taste, the beer's light carbonation and depth of lingering malt weighs on the tongue in rewarding flavors but limiting the beer's refreshment. A bold alcohol spice of herbal gin teases the throat while a grassy, herbal and geranium aftertaste gives impressions of hemp, spruce and leaf much like the original.
